I edit almost every genre in fiction, though my specialties are teen fiction, new adult fiction, and romance. I edit most lengths of manuscripts, from short stories to lengthy novels (up to approx. 150,000 words max). I also edit query letters, back cover copy, and synopses. Please note, I do not provide proofreading/final page pass or copy editing services.
Below are the services I provide (prices listed in US dollars). All edits are made directly in your manuscript via track changes and comment bubbles. I require manuscripts, queries, and synopses to be sent to me electronically as a Word document with the following formatting: double-spaced with 1-inch margins, using a legible size 12 font (such as Times New Roman).

$.01 per word (50k words = $500)—Content critiquing (developmental edits). I’ll focus solely on the story, providing in-depth thoughts within the manuscript on point of view, characterization, showing vs telling, description, sensory details, dialogue, setting, pacing, plot, etc. If needed, I can also brainstorm possible solutions with you after I deliver the manuscript to help fix content issues (please note, I often do so inside the manuscript, making comments and suggestions as I go). No line edits.
$.01 per word (50k words = $500)—Line edits. I’ll identify the following: awkward or unclear sentences, repetition of sentence patterns, overused words/phrases (“crutch” words), inauthentic-sounding dialogue, body parts acting independently, dangling modifiers, noun/pronoun mismatch, grammar and syntax errors, etc., plus make suggestions as needed for corrections. I’ll also correct any punctuation errors/typos I find. No content edits.
$.015 per word (50k words = $750)—Medium-level content critiquing with line edits. I’ll provide full line edits, plus offer a critique on any overall content issues I find within the manuscript (overall issues in characterization, plot holes, pacing problems, etc). This isn’t a thorough critique and is intended for those wanting to just make sure they didn’t miss something big.
$.02 per word (50k words = $1000)—The Works (content critiquing with line edits). I’ll provide full line edits, plus thoroughly critique the content, pointing out both issues and strengths. This can be done in one or two rounds (two is greatly recommended); if you choose two rounds, the first would be developmental edits, and the second would be line edits.

With my years of experience editing a wide variety of manuscripts for publishers such as Siren Publishing and Carina Press, as well as being a multi-published author with Simon & Schuster, Kensington, and Berkley, I’ve learned how to edit a story to showcase its strengths and constructively address issues, WITHOUT editing the life and author’s voice out of the manuscript.
Interested in working with me? Have a question? Send an email to me at firstname.lastname@example.org! Let me know the word count of the manuscript, the genre, and the level of edits desired. If you’re seeking consulting, let me know the details of your project and/or what you wish to discuss.
